Position Description:
Overview:
NSI-MI Technologies develops electronic equipment used in Automated Microwave Measurement Systems, including Microwave Receivers, Microwave Signal Sources, and Position Control instruments. The high performance demands of these Measurement Systems drive the specifications for each product to extreme precision and accuracy. The role of the electrical design engineer is to support existing electronic products used in system development and to develop new electronic products as required based on customer needs and requirements. Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Include the following and other duties as assigned. o Specification, design, development, and documentation of:
o Wiring harness design o Cable assemblies that interface between motors and associated motion control systems o Safety related functions, such as emergency-stop circuits and limit switches o In-chassis wiring for motion control systems o Working with a Mechanical Engineer to develop unit packaging o Design of circuit card assemblies using schematic capture and PCB layout tools o Test and troubleshooting of all designs in support of manufacturing and system integration This position may require occasional domestic and international travel. Position Requirements:
Required Skills:
o Expertise in implementing robust cable assembly designs that are optimized for:
impedance match, grounding integrity, minimization of crosstalk/EMI/RFI, efficient cable management, and design for manufacture o Working knowledge of linear/switching power supplies, DC brushed/brushless motors, servo/stepper motors, slip rings, encoders and triggering architectures o Electronic circuit and board-level design and development o Ability to produce high quality technical drawings to support manufacturing o Ability to learn quickly, pay attention to detail, and work productively to solve a variety of problems will be necessary for success o Ability to manage one's own time to meet budgets and schedules as well as the interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively as part of a team o Significant experience in developing a total end item product for the market Must have the ability to obtain or have a U.S. Government security clearance. Desirable skills:
o Experience in the areas of:
o RF system design, microwave measurement equipment architecture, PID control systems, analog/digital circuits, microwave components o Experience using:
o 3D modelling tools (e.g. ProE, Solidworks, etc.), eDrawings, Visio, schematic capture and PCB design tools, circuit simulation tools, Costpoint, Microsoft Office products Experience Level:
5 years Education Level:
Bachelors of Science Electrical Engineering (Required) Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering (Desirable)
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Electrical EngineeringEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
