Primary
Responsibilities:
Manage and coordinate system-level content on the district website, serving as a traffic coordinator for web projects to provide timely and accurate information.
Use oral and written skills to effectively communicate to internal and external audiences, serving as a member of the Engagement Office creative team to build support for the district's vision, mission, and goals and to promote a positive image of Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS), its programs, and local schools.
Employee may be called upon to work weekends or evenings when weather-related occurrences or other incidents require the immediate posting of information on the website.
1.
Develop and implement long-range plans for effective web communications, focusing on user experience and equitable access for all stakeholders.
a.
Research and apply content and design strategies for improved user experience.
b.
Use SEO tactics and CMS to maximize search rankings, optimize content, analyze user engagement, and works closely with a technical team to maintain site standards.
c.
Coordinate creative direction in the visual presentation of information for the main GCPS website and subsites, collaborating with Branding and Design Manager to ensure consistent brand messages across all channels.
d.
Apply effective marketing and communication principles to GCPS websites.
2.
Manage and coordinate system-level content on the district website, serving as a traffic coordinator for web projects.
a.
Maintain and update system-level pages on the school system's website.
b.
Work with other departments and technical teams to ensure that the information on the GCPS website is both timely, accurate, understandable, and ADA compliant.
c.
Integrate images, graphic animations, video streaming, remediated PDF documents, and banners.
d.
Employ web design knowledge and skills to present information clearly and effectively.
e.
Create engaging content for the district website.
f.
Proofread and edit content produced by Web Communications Specialist.
g.
Maintain high standards and conform to GCPS' style and editorial policy, ensuring accuracy in spelling, punctuation, grammar, and adherence to GCPS style in all written work.
3.
Provide leadership for a cross-departmental and cross-district team of webmasters and web-support technicians and collaborate with them to support long-range plans for GCPS web-based communications.
a.
Coordinate a cross-functional team of technicians and the Web Communications Specialist to upgrade and continuously improve the website, regularly consulting with technical staff on internet and website functionality, priorities, and use.
b.
Lead efforts to ensure web content and functionality is accessible to all users (using WCAG 2.
0 level AA or similar standard).
c.
Develop and maintain web content guidelines for use at the district and school level.
d.
Serve as web content consultant with other offices and departments, programs, and schools, advising on best practices and available resources.
e.
Develop, promote, and conduct training opportunities for social media contacts at the district and school levels.
4.
Serve as a team member in promoting and maintaining Gwinnett County Public Schools desired image and the department's reputation for quality.
a.
Contribute to and assist with cross-promotional opportunities for the district website, various district publications, GCPS TV, and external communications.
5.
Complete other duties at the discretion of management in alignment with job expectations, duties, and skills.
