Qualifications:
Must hold or be eligible for a valid certificate in school psychology.
National Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) Certification preferred.
Education
Qualifications:
Completion of a state-approved certification preparation program in school psychology at the specialist degree level or higher, or completion of a master's degree plus 60 graduate semester hours/90 quarter hours of school psychology course work from a National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) approved degree program.
Experience
Qualifications:
Completion of successful year's internship in conjunction with public schools following conferred degree required.
Three years experience as a school psychologist preferred.

Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive arena assessments with appropriate team members followed by writing eligibility and psychoeducational reports and holding eligibility meetings and provide information to parents as well as support teachers and provide consultation, staff development, and other functions with program and parent support.
1.
Participate in comprehensive psycho-developmental arena assessments.
a.
Review referral information and coordinate plans for evaluation.
b.
Choose and administer appropriate assessment instruments.
c.
Coordinate meetings to determine eligibility from arena results.
d.
Communicate test results and eligibility with parents.
e.
Develop written reports as assigned by supervisor.
2.
Provide consultative services to parents and school personnel.
a.
Identify problems and develop appropriate intervention strategies.
b.
Work with parents on areas of behavior, parenting skills, and basic understandings of educational, social, and medical needs of their children.
c.
Provide observations of children in different environments as related to identified problems.
d.
Provided crisis intervention as requested.
e.
Participate in parent education groups as needed.
f.
Participate with team members in regularly scheduled team meetings at school sites.

Coordinate the special education eligibility process for new students.

Assist in conducting staff developments for teachers, paraprofessionals, Speech Language Pathologist, and others involved in the Early Childhood Special Education Program.

Participate in professional growth activities.
a.
Participate in departmental and/or system staff development activities.

Take the lead in evaluation in students ready for a triennial re-evaluation.
a.
Communicate with case managers.
